Charpa Falls is actually a stream which is a part of the west flowing Chalakudy river which originates from the mountains of Western Ghats. This stream gets violent and more turbulent when getting near to the falls even though it flows all calmly most of its way to the Arabian sea. The stream joins back to the mainstream flow of the river a little after Charpa falls. This natural waterfall is actually 70 feet in height from where the water cascades and fall down with enthralling sound and magnificent beauty. Green vegetation around the waterfall makes the scene more lovely.
Monsoon months are the ideal times to visit the place. Charpa gains its full strength during these times. Sometimes, water even splashes onto the road nearby. The cascaded flow of water from a height of 70 feet with great strength is a beautiful sight to behold. In extreme summer months like April, this falls dries up.
Charpa falls is an amazing place to spend some time with family or friends. It offers some magnificent views that will cool down the visitor's body and soul alike. Blessed with natural beauty, this place is a must visit for those who have got a thing for wonderful locations and photography. Even though it always remains open to the public, it is best to visit the place in early mornings or late evenings. No entry fees are charged to these roadside waterfalls.
