Kottakkunnu

Situated near the district collectorate in Malappuram, Kottakkunnu, is a recently developed tourist spot in the district. Kottakkunnu derives its name from an old fort, which was built by the Zamorins of Kozhikode (in Malayalam kotta means fort and kunnu means hill). One can still find traces of this fort.

Kottakkunnu is presently one scenic location on top of a hillock in Malappuram that might probably attract all categories of people alike. You can find kids playing, watching the lush green Western Ghats and the amazing view of Malappuram and other nearby places. Walking trails are the main attraction, walk through the valley to the top of the hill and enjoy the breeze. You can reach the top of a hill by walking hundreds of steps or direct by vehicle. You can enjoy the beauty of Malappuram city and surrounding areas from the top of the hill.


Kottakkunnu is essentially a hill turned into a Park. It is situated in the heart of malappuram town.  As it's a hill, the park is designed around that. There are steps from bottom to top in a straight line and also a winding path to the top. Winding path gives the best views of malappuram town.  On the top of the hill there are some eateries which provide general snacks. There is a jogging path on top which is thronged by the fitness loving population in the mornings.
One of the main attractions is the adventure park on top of the hill. It's a beautiful hilltop park for the entire family. Kids have many attractions like merry go round, toy trains, see-saw, slides, bouncing castles, 6D movie theatre, mirror maze, bumper cars etc. There's a horror house, adventure activities like zip-line for adults and aquarium and plant nursery for the laid back people. There are widespread gardens where you can simply walk, or just sit and relax. There's a water fountain with laser show which is open on Saturdays and Sundays evening . There are also spaces where they conduct exhibitions and you also get to enjoy local Street food. There is ample car parking space too
