Ranipuram

Ranipuram is a hill station in the Indian state of Kerala. Situated in the Vellarikundu taluk, Kasargod District, Ranipuram mountain peak rises to 1022 metres above the sea level. It is 45 km away from nearest municipality Kanhangad. It is known as "Ooty of Kerala"

The gentle hills of Ranipuram in Kerala are famous for its trekking trail. Situated at the height of about 750 meters above sea level, this destination has thick forest vegetation and lush green grasslands. The whole place is proposed inside the Ranipuram Wildlife Sanctuary which merges with Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary of Karnataka. The sublime beauty of this region is comparable to that of Ooty, and is a must visit for all nature enthusiasts. The innocent life of the village and gentle nature make a perfect blend of delight and enjoyment.  


Ranipuram is famous for its trekking trails and varied vegetation. There are two trekking trails available to explore the beauty of Western Ghats of Ranipuram. In order to reach the top of the Ranipuram hill which is called Mani, a 45 minutes' walk through the forest is needed. One can get a panoramic view of the landscape and a large expanse of green valleys. The rocks on the trekking path are slippery and visitors have to be cautious. Since leeches are very common here travellers are advised to wear long socks and carry salt. There are also trek paths to Talacauvery (origin place of River Cauvery) and Kottagiri from Ranipuram.
Blessed with the bounty of nature, this destination is Kerala is a refreshing change from the monotony of concrete jungles. The entire trek route of Ranipuram is very scenic and a delight for nature photographers. Exploring the land on foot while being surrounded by flora is surely a serene experience. You will encounter a small stream en route, which seems like it has been pulled out straight from a painting. The trek lasts for about two and a half kilometers, and the summit has a cave, and reaching it is quite an adventurous experience.

At a distance of 55 km from Kasaragod, 50 km from Bekal, 45 km from Kanhangad, 195 km from Kozhikode, 100 km from Mangalore & 80 km from Madikeri, Ranipuram is a hill station of Kerala located in Kasaragod district. It lies at an altitude of 750 m adjacent to Kottancheri-Talacauvery mountain range and shares the border with Karnataka. Ranipuram can be reached via Kanhangad and Panathady. Panathady is the nearest stop from where Ranipuram hill station is about 9 km. Jeep services are available from Panathady. One bus service from Kanhangad is also available which is at 4 PM and reaches Ranipuram at 6.30 PM.
