Hosdurg Fort
In the hilly reaches of Kasaragod district, people are used to seeing impressive forts at almost every turn, built both as military bastions and important centres for commercial and cultural activities. In Kanhangad lies the Hosdurg Fort, among the legendary chain of forts built by Somashekara Nayak of Ikkeri Dynasty. Lying nearby is the internationally renowned spiritual centre, the Nithyananda Ashram. About 15km from Bekal, these form an intriguing set of places that add to Kasaragod’s charm.
Hosdurg Fort is the landmark of Kanhangad in Kasaragod. Also known as Kanhangad Fort, the fort with its round bastions looks imposing from a distance. There is a famous temple attached to the fort, Karpooreshwara temple.
Every year lots of tourists visit this beautiful fort. If seeking some spiritual enlightenment visit the popular spiritual center Nithya Anandashram located in the proximity of this locale. Additionally, this is one of the least explored tourist places in Kasaragod and hails out to the history lovers.
