Mangalam Dam

Standing on the river Cher Kunnapuzha, Mangalam Dam is an earthen dam. It was constructed and opened in 1966. The motive behind its construction was to provide the water for irrigating the agricultural land. It is surrounded by the beautiful but dense jungles that are a habitat for a variety of flora and fauna.

 This dam is a major attraction for the visitors and bears the name of the village where it is constructed. The dam is a marvellous sight amidst dense forests. The wildlife thriving in the forest region can be spotted around the reservoir often. The region is quite a relief from the hustle and bustle of city life and is a preferred picnic spot for many.


Children's park is available in the dam premises. Watch tower is one of the attractions in this spot. It is one of the places in Palakkad district which is suitable for all types of travellers.
