It can be only accessed after an arduous 2 km jungle trek, the visuals on display at the summit are worth the effort. One has separate viewing points for each of the three decks of the waterfalls and due to its location this is one of the few natural wonders in the world that can be experienced in near seclusion. You feel at ease, while the lush greenery gently washes away all that ails your soul, as the roaring water gently soothes your senses. A masterpiece that lies on the Ooty route in Wayanad.
Cascading down through multiple tiers from a height of over 800 feet, it is a spectacular fall situated inside thick forest flowing through a rocky platform. The falls has major tiers with varying height. The first tier can be reached by walking for about half km from the parking area / main entrance of the falls. The lower tier is a smaller one with water collecting into a pool. The pool is safe for swimming with low depth. The second tier can be reached by trekking up through steps built over boulders. The half km path runs downstream of the river and offers wonderful views of the stream and thick vegetation. The third tier is the toughest and needs some walking through the stream on slippery rocks with the help of ropes. The ascend is steep at few places and this half km stretch takes about 10-15 minutes. The peak on top of the third tier offers breathtaking views of Banasura Sagar Dam and surrounding valleys. Meenmutty Falls situated amidst a serene location offers a wonderful experience to the visitors. This is a must visit place for everyone visiting Banasura Sagar Dam.
